Earl reaches Canada with hurricane-speed punch

HALIFAX, Canada (Reuters) - Hurricane Earl lashed into the Canadian Maritime provinces on Saturday, picking up wind speed in warm Atlantic waters, after a surprisingly tame brush with the U.S. East Coast.
